Fall Frosty Awards Nominees: Female Athlete of the Year

From now until Jan. 3, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Department will debut the Frosty Award nominees for the fall semester.  These are the fall nominees for Female Athlete of the Year. Friday we'll unveil the candidates for Male Athlete of the Year. 

The 12th annual Frosty Awards will take place April 29 and honor athletic excellence in Carson-Newman's athletic department.

Emerson Ahsmuhs (Volleyball): Ahsmuhs crushed it in her first season in an Eagle uniform. The California native led the team in kills with 293 while hitting .228 on the year. Her efforts saw her get named to the All-SAC Second Team, and was the South Atlantic Conference's Offensive Player of the Week in late October after hitting over .400 in wins over Newberry and Lenoir-Rhyne.  

Blair Cherry (Volleyball): Cherry amassed 1,013 assists this season, marking the first time an Eagle has surpassed 1,000 assists in a single season since 2021. Her efforts this season have elevated her to seventh in Carson-Newman Volleyball career assists after just her sophomore season. As a result of her performance, she was named to the All-SAC Second Team and CSC Academic All-District Team, showcasing her skills both on the court and in the classroom. 

Felicia Frick (Soccer): Frick scored the third-most goals for Carson-Newman with three during her junior season. She stayed perfect in her career in penalty kicks, going two for two this season. Her first penalty kick goal of the season allowed her to become the program's all-time leader in penalty kick goals. 

Maddie Hurst (Volleyball): The Southeast Region Freshman of the Year, Hurst shined at both outside hitter and middle blocker positions. Hurst collected 292 kills and 102 total blocks en route to leading the team in blocks and hitting percentage. She had standout performances against Union, Francis Marion, and Tusculum, where she tallied more than 17 kills in each game, but her best game came in the regular season finale against Anderson, where she tallied ten total blocks, marking the first time an Eagle had reached double-digits since teammate Taylor Keeran did so two seasons earlier. Hurst was named the SAC Freshman of the Year, Southeast Region Freshman of the Year, and All-SAC First Team. 

Karli Pettitt (Women's Soccer): Pettitt was just one of three Eagles to start and play in all 16 games this season. The defender tied for the team lead with four goals on just six shots on goal. She was also just one of three players to record multiple assists this season. Her ten points were a team-best. Pettitt's best game as a sophomore came in C-N's 3-1 win versus Coker, when she scored or assisted on all three goals in the victory.

Jenna Pittman (Cross Country): Pittman was named to the All-Region list following her 20th place finish in the NCAA Division Ii Southeast Region Cross Country Championships.. She also earned Third Team All-SAC honors after finishing 16th overall in the South Atlantic Conference Championships. Pittman capped off the season with three top-3 finishes including a first place finish at the Nooga At Night women's 5K race.
