Male Freshman of the Year
Don Bradley (Football): Carson-Newman's second-leading rusher for 2024, Bradley carried the ball 51 times for 398 yards and three scores. He had his first career 100-yard rushing performance in week two at West Virginia State.
Turk Daniels (Football): Daniels was the only freshman in Super Region II to earn a spot on either the first or second team offense. Daniels adds the all-region accolade to an already stocked trophy case. He was the South Atlantic Conference offensive freshman of the year. Daniels is the first offensive lineman in the history of the league to win the award. Daniels is the 14th Eagle overall to earn the conference's freshman of the year honor. Daniels mauled men up front all year long, becoming the first Eagle offensive lineman to start every game of his freshman season since future All-American Pat Egan. Daniels produced a whopping 80 knockdowns on the year – the most in a single-season in school history.
Brandon Dumezil (Football): Dumezil started five games and played in all 12 on the defensive line for the Eagles. He registered 18 stops with three tackles for loss and a sack.
Tre Edwards (Football): Tre Edwards started the final nine games of the season on C-N's defensive line. He helped clear the way for a 1,000-yard rusher in Jayden Sullins. He helped Carson-Newman to lead the SAC in rushing. The Eagles produced 265.8 yards rushing per game – a figure that also ranks fourth nationally.
Jimi Olarinde (Football): Olarinde's top highlight came at Tusculum when he returned an interception 17 yards for a touchdown. He played in all 12 games on the defensive line for the Eagles, registering 17 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
Bennett Smith (Football): Smith connected on 9-of-14 field goals on the year with a long of 45 coming in the SAC title game at Wingate. He earned SAC Player of the Week honors after drilling a game-winning field goal in overtime in a 31-28 overtime win over Wingate in the SAC opener.
Antoine Torrent (Men's Soccer): As a freshman, Torrent led Carson-Newman in assists with seven and was one of just three Eagles to start and play in every game of the season. He recorded back to back games with multiple assists, with two each in back to back wins versus Newberry and Wingate.
