Elite Eagles eager to show off talents at Outdoor Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A small but talented convocation of Eagles head west to Nashville to close out the regular season against top competition at the Outdoor Music City Challenge at Vanderbilt University.

The two-day event begins on Apr. 29 with Trayzel Jureidini-Wyche competing against competition from Division-I Arkansas State and Belmont and against athletes from no. 24 Lindenwood and Trevecca Nazarene in the discus.

Jureidini-Wyche recorded his second win of the season in the discus with a toss of 49.21 meters at the Electric City In The senior has recorded eleven straight top-five finishes in the event dating back to the 2019 L-R Classic.

The senior enters the weekend with the seventh-best toss in Division-II in the discus with a school record throw of 53.81 meters at the Montreat Invite earlier this season.

Saturday, Apr. 30 will be all about the sprinters, with the 4x100 meter team of PJ Lotharp, Makanakaishe Charamba, Siphosethu Boya and Devon Moore competing for the first time this weekend as a group.

Moore returns from an injury sustained at the 2022 SAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, replacing Tshenelo Lemao this weekend. Last season, Moore did set a provisional time as a member of the 4x100 meter relay team, finishing third at the 2021 Lee Last Chance Meet with a time of 40.79 seconds.

The previous group holds a school record and is tied for the 13th-fastest time in the nation in the event with Lincoln (Mo.) and The Academy of Art, winning the race at the Electric City Invitational with a time of 40.59 seconds. The Carson-Newman men's 4x100 meter relay team have won three straight relay event championships in the outdoor season.

The day concludes with Boya, Lotharp and Moore set to compete in the 100-meter run.

Moore has competed in the 100-meter run just once this outdoor season. The senior finished sixth at the Lee Flames Invitational with a time of 10.73 seconds.

Boya, who holds the 24th fastest time in the nation in the 400-meter run, last competed in the 100-meter run at the Lee Invitational on Mar. 19, finishing fourth with a time of 10.82 seconds.

Lotharp has improved his Carson-Newman best in the event at every single meet this season, recording a fourth place finish with a time of 10.62 seconds at the Electric City Invitational.
