ABCA Poll

WINGATE, N.C. – In the latest American Baseball Coaches Association poll, Carson-Newman (20-6, 10-2 SAC) made a big jump to No. 11, and ranks 21st in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll, both of which were released earlier today.

The Eagles were one of the big movers in the ABCA poll, climbing eight spots in this week's poll thanks to a three-game sweep of Limestone last weekend. C-N's 180 points were just eight behind Texas-Tyler for 10th in the rankings.

Other South Atlantic Conference schools made moves up in the ABCA poll as well. Lenoir-Rhyne is now fourth and Catawba is one spot behind the Bears. Just like last week, three of the Southeast region's six ranked teams by the ABCA are from the SAC. North Greenville is eighth, Mount Olive 16th and Young Harris 21st.

C-N moves up three spots in the NCBWA poll, from 24th to 21st. This is the fourth straight week that Carson-Newman has been ranked in this poll and matches its highest ranking from the NCBWA.

Lenoir-Rhyne is the top ranked SAC school, checking in at number eight. Catawba is ranked 14th with a 19-7 record. The NCBWA has five Southeast region schools ranked, led by North Greenville who slots in at number three.

Carson-Newman returns to South Atlantic Conference action on Friday in a three-game series at Anderson. First pitch for Friday's series opener is set for 4:00 p.m. The games will air with a free audio stream available courtesy of the Eagle Sports Network on cneagles.com/live
