2025 SAC Preseason All-Conference Teams
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman baseball sophomore infielder Logan Floyd was named to the preseason all-conference second team by the league office on Tuesday morning.
Being named to the all-conference third team as a freshman, Floyd became just the 10th third baseman to be named all-conference and the first since Brett Langhorne in 2018. He hit five home runs, all of which came from March 27th on. He led the team with a .356 batting average and had 16 multi-hit efforts including five games with three or more. Floyd had 11 multi-RBI games, driving in at least three in eight of those contests. Helping Carson-Newman win a series over Lenoir-Rhyne at the end of March, the rookie drove in a career-high five runs thanks to his fourth inning grand slam. Floyd only struck out 15 times in 163 at bats and was the 10th toughest hitter to strike out in the SAC.
He was also fantastic as a defensive player as well. He became just the 3rd, third baseman to be All-SAC defender, joining Brandon Roberts and Brett Langhorne. Floyd had the highest fielding percentage among third baseman in the conference at .975, only making two errors in 80 total chances. He was the ninth player in program history to be recognized on the all-defensive team.
"He had a great year as a freshman," Carson-Newman head coach Tom Griffin said. "He's a special talent. He has great hand-eye coordination, great bat speed and a great feel for the game. Having him back as a young guy is really important to our lineup."
Floyd and the Eagles begin the season on January 31st at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex, starting a three-game series with King. Every home game can be heard on cneagles.com/live with live video available on the Eagle Sports Network. Select road games will be available with an audio stream.
