#22 Eagles hold fourth spot in NCAA Region Ranking

INDIANAPOLIS – Following back-to-back tournament victories, the No. 22 Carson-Newman men's golf team finds itself at fourth in the second installment of the NCAA Division II Southeast regional rankings.

The rankings will help build the entire field for the Super Regional tournaments to be played at the beginning of May to open the national championships.

Carson-Newman received an automatic bid after winning its second consecutive South Atlantic Conference title on Tuesday as the Eagles finished the event at 14-over par. Sophomore Tom Forster (Oundle, England) was the top medalist at five-under par with a 211 total, marking his second tournament win of the season. He won two of the team's previous three tournaments.

Head coach Randy Wylie's team closed out the regular season with a win at the Tennessee River Rumble where Jake Headrick (Maryville, Tenn.) tied for second in the field. The Eagles made a 20-shot turnaround in the final day to win with a 291 total.

C-N has garnered eight top-five finishes in nine of the events it has taken part in this season, all coming in succession of one another.

Limestone sits at the top of the regional ranking as the No. 7 team in the nation with three event wins this season. Fellow SAC representative Newberry is the second-best team in the region while standing at eighth in Golfstat's relative rankings. No. 9 USC Aiken rounds out the top-three.

Lincoln Memorial, ranked 17th in the nation, is one spot behind the Eagles in the region at fifth.

The Eagles await the South/Southeast regional to be played May 7-9 at the Rock Barn Golf and Spa in Conover, N.C.
