INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time since April 4, the Carson-Newman men's golf team has moved back into the top-20 of Division II teams in the nation as announced by Golfstat on Wednesday.

The Eagles dropped down to 22nd just two weeks ago and moved up one spot each week since to place them back at 20th in the nation.

Head coach Randy Wylie's squad is over a week away from its second-straight appearance in the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional after defending its South Atlantic Conference title earlier in April. In the most recent regional rankings released this past Friday, the Eagles listed at the fifth spot.

Sophomore Tom Forster (Oundle, England) won the top medalist title thanks to a five-under par performance for his second tournament win of the season. Both of his top-three finishes on the season resulted in tournament wins. He currently sits at No. 55 on the national player rankings. He holds an adjusted scoring average of 72.15.

Not far behind him is Jake Headrick at 72nd with a stroke average of 73.07. The junior won one tournament during the regular season with three total top-three finishes.

Fellow SAC teams Newberry and Lincoln Memorial also find themselves in Golfstat's rankings at No. 8 and No. 18, respectively.

The South/Southeast regional that will decide the fate of the Eagles for the remainder of the NCAA Championship is set for May 7-9 at the Rock Barn Golf and Spa in Conover, N.C. The selection of teams for the regional will be made on April 27.
