Eagles Tied for 5th After Day One of Cateechee Fall Invitational

HARWELL, Ga. – After the first day of the Cateechee Fall Invitational, the Carson-Newman men's golf team sits tied for 5th, following 34 holes on Monday, with the final few holes being pushed to tomorrow due to darkness.

"Our play was up and down today," head coach Randy Wylie said. "Plenty of birdies, but too many doubles and triples… We are hoping and expecting to climb the leaderboard tomorrow."

As a team, C-N shot a 280 in round one and a 260 in so far in round two with a couple of holes left to go, finishing the day at one-under par. Antonio Farinella led the Eagles, finishing the first 36 holes tied for 11th. Farinella showed consistency throughout the day, shooting a 68 in the first 18 and a 66 in the second, good for 3-under par on the afternoon. 

Elliot MacGregor sits tied for 23rd after day one, shooting a 68 in the first round and a 69 in the second for an even-par performance.

Luke Stock slots in tied for 33rd, improving on his first-round score of 74 with a 64-stroke performance in round two to finish just one stroke over par going into day two.

After playing as an individual at the Mizuno Intercollegiate, Taylor Kilgore finishes day one of the Cateechee Fall Invitational tied for 44th, shooting a 74 in round one and a 65 in round two at 2-over on the day.

Rounding out the Eagles' starters is newcomer Nick Daugherty, tied for 68th with a 74-stroke effort in the first round before a 65 in round two, finishing the day at 5-over.

With a solid performance and ambitions to climb the leaderboard, the Eagles will return to the course tomorrow morning for the final 20 holes.
