Eagles Sit in 4th Following Strong Second Round at Ralph Hargett Invitational

MONROE, NC – Despite some inconsistency in the first round, multiple Eagles delivered strong second rounds to put C-N in 4th at 4-over after day one of the Ralph Hargett Invitational.

"There was plenty of inconsistency today but also plenty of good," head coach Randy Wylie said. "Steady play by Luke Stock and Noah Cambridge and a brilliant bounce back from Elliot MacGregor… We're in a decent position to make a run up the leaderboard tomorrow."

The Eagles were led by freshman Noah Cambridge, who continued his impressive first season with C-N by delivering a 70 in round one.

In round one, Cambridge shot three birdies in the front nine and stayed at par for the other six. In the back nine, despite two bogeys and a double bogey, Cambridge tallied three more birdies to finish the round at 1-under.

Despite adding three strokes with a 73 in round two, Cambridge still found consistency. Despite back-to-back holes over par, Cambridge delivered 16 straight holes at par or better, including three birdies. With Cambridge's consistent two rounds, he sits tied for 9th.

Shortly following Cambridge is Luke Stock, who jumped 11 spots following his second-round performance to finish the day tied for 13th. Stock sat at par for most of the first 18 holes in the first round but tallied two birdies to mostly overcome three bogeys, shooting a 73 in round one.

It was mostly the same for Stock in round two, but in a tight field, Stock climbed by shooting three more birdies and limiting his bogeys in the final 18 holes to shoot a 71 in round two and finish the day even.

The largest jump of the day came from Elliot MacGregor, who, despite sitting in 83rd after round one, jumped all the way to tie for 20th following a 67-stroke performance in round two. After a 79 in round one, MacGregor notched seven birdies and only shot one hole over par for an impressive round two, and is in position to climb further in round three.

Antonio Farinella sits tied for 45th after day one, and despite some inconsistency, delivered two solid rounds on day one. Despite a front nine in round one with three holes over par, Farinella shot three birdies and had just one hole over par on the back nine to finish the round with a 75. It was a similar story in round two, as Farinella shot five holes over par but also four birdies to finish with a 76.

Rounding out the Eagles is Aidan Powter, tied for 58th after a 75 in round one and a 78 in round two. Powter shot a decent round one but couldn't overcome five straight holes over par in the second round. Powter can climb the leaderboard in a tightly packed field with a solid round three.

The Eagles will have a chance to build on the positives from the second round in the final 18 holes starting at 9 AM tomorrow.
