Eagles Tied for 6th After Day One of Hurricane Invitational

ALBANY, Ga. – The Carson-Newman men's golf team sits tied for 6th at 15-over par after day one of the Hurricane Invitational, led by an impressive performance from Luke Stock.

"Nice playing today from Luke Stock, leading us on a windy day at Doublegate," head coach Randy Wylie said. "As a team, we need to be more consistent, and a solid day tomorrow is very important."

Stock finished the first 36 holes at 1-under par, shooting a 71 in the first round and a 72 in the second. Stock finished the day tied for 4th, sitting four strokes back of first place heading into the final day of action. 

Freshman Noah Cambridge was the second-highest finisher for the Eagles on day one, coming in tied for 23rd after a 73-stroke performance in the first 18 holes and a 75 in the second. Cambridge will head into day two at 4-over.

Elliot MacGregor and Nick Daugherty both sit tied for 35th at 6-over par. After a 76 in the first round, MacGregor shaved two strokes off the first-round output with a 74. Daugherty shot a 75 in both rounds of play, putting him tied with MacGregor in 35th.

Antonio Farinella rounds out the Eagles tied for 78th, shooting a 79 in the first round and an 82 in the second 18 holes. Farinella sits at 17-over par after the first day of action. 

As a team, the Eagles will look for more consistency on day two, as C-N sits within two strokes of North Georgia, sitting 5th. The Eagles return to Doublegate Country Club in Albany, Georgia, tomorrow at 9 AM for the final 18 holes.
