Eagles hop on the road for first beach volleyball tournament in Indiana

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- The Carson-Newman beach volleyball will make an eight-hour drive to Ft. Wayne, IN for the weekend to compete in the Principia College Beach Bash Friday and Saturday to kick off the 2019 season.

"We're super excited to get out there," Coach Kody DuBarry said. "We've been working hard and we're ready to finally compete."

The Eagles will have two matches on Friday, and two matches on Saturday. The first faceoff will be against the host, Principia College Friday morning at 11 a.m. The Panthers finished last season 6-10 including a win against Division I opponent, Morehead State. The second match of the day will be against Stevenson University from Owings Mills, MD at 3:30 p.m. The Eagles fell to the Mustangs last season twice and look to turn that streak around Friday afternoon.

Saturday will consist of matches against Morehead State at 10 a.m. and Tusculum University at 1 p.m. Morehead State went 3-12 last season including a narrow 3-2 win over Carson-Newman. Tusculum University will make its debut as a beach volleyball program at the Beach Bash as they recently added the sport as their 21st NCAA sponsored sport in November of 2017.
