Lady Eagles Finish Fifth at Patsy Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. — The Carson-Newman women's golf team shot a final-round 314 (+26) on Tuesday to finish in fifth place in the Patsy Rendleman Invitational at the Country Club of Salisbury.

The Lady Eagles finished the tournament with a two-round total of 628 (314-314, +52). Belmont Abbey turned in a 297 to win the tournament with a tournament record of 591 (294-297, +15), while UNC Pembroke claimed second with a score of 599 (297-302, +23). Newberry and Pfeiffer each shot 625 (+49) to finish in a tie for third.

Junior Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) led the Lady Eagles with an 11th place finish. Ray carded a final-round 76 (+4) to take her two-day total to 151 (+7).

Junior Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) made the biggest move for C-N as she fired a 2-over 74 to climb 16 spots and finish in 14th place with a score of 154 (+10). Senior Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) finished in a tie for 28th with a score of 160 (81-79, +16). Sophomore Melanie Manis (Louisville, Tenn.) tied for 38th with a two-round total of 163 (78-85, +19), while junior Heather Houser (Kingsport, Tenn.) tied for 56th with a score of 173 (83-90, +29).

Belmont Abbey's Megan Wallace fired a tournament-record 6-under 66 to win medalist honors. Wallace finished with a two-round total of 139, which was also a 36-hole tournament record.

The Patsy Rendleman Invitational was the final tournament of the Lady Eagles' fall schedule.
