Lady Eagles finish fourth at Wingate’s Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, N.C. – Carson-Newman's Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) finished in a tie for sixth and the Lady Eagles finished fourth after Tuesday's final round of the 2011 Pinehurst Challenge at National Golf Club.

The Lady Eagles finished at 647 (+68) for the two-day tournament, ahead of six other South Atlantic Conference schools. C-N shot 324 (+36) in the final round.

Tarbet slipped to an 83 (+11) in the final round to fall to sixth after sharing a piece of the opening-round lead.

Junior Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) tied for 20th after closing with an 80 to finish the tournament at 160 (+16).

Freshman Louise McGillivray (Banchory, Scotland) carded the lowest round of the day for C-N. She bounced back with a 76 to finish in a tie for 26th with a two-day 165 (+21).

Freshman Lauren Hodge (Jefferson City, Tenn.) tied for 53rd with a second-straight 85 to finish at 170 (+26).

Sophomore Melanie Manis (Louisville, Tenn.) finished at 89 (+17) and tied for 65th.

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke won the team title at 624 (+36) in a scorecard playoff with Saint Leo University. Saint Leo's Jordan Hatch took medalist honors at 174 (+3).

The Lady Eagles return to action at Tusculum's Agnes McAmis Memorial Tournament held April 4-5 in Greeneville, Tenn.
