WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. — The Carson-Newman women's golf team is in 12th place after playing two rounds on Monday in the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational at Tuscawilla Country Club.

The Lady Eagles opened the day with a round of 324 (+36) and shot a second-round 328 (+40) to finish the day with a score of 652 (+76). The tournament field is one of the toughest C-N has faced this season with seven teams in the top 25, including three of the top four teams.

No. 2 Florida Southern leads the tournament with a two-round total of 613 (310-303, +37), while top-ranked Nova Southeastern is one stroke behind with a score of 614 (305-309, +38). Tournament host and fourth-ranked Rollins College is in third with a two-round score of 621 (311-310, +45).

C-N senior Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) and freshman Mary Tunnell (Memphis, Tenn.) are in a four-way tie for 11th place with a two-round score of 156 (+12). Tarbet turned in rounds of 76 (+4) and 80 (+8), while Tunnell shot 75 (+3) and 81 (+9).

Junior Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished with a score of 168 (87-81, +24). Junior Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) enters the final round with a score of 173 (86-87, +29), while freshman Louise MCGillivray (Banchory, Scotland) had a two-round total of 177 (91-86, +33).

Florida Southern's Melanie Audette and St. Leo's Goeun Lee are in first and second place, respectively. Audette finished the day with a score of 148 (72-76, +4), while Lee had a total of 149 (72-77, +5).

The final round of the tournament will be held on Tuesday with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m.
