JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The Carson-Newman women's golf program has signed two student-athletes for the 2011-12 season, head coach Amanda Moore announced Friday.

Chelsea Passmore (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Jessica Kubalak (Franklin, Tenn.) have both signed National Letters of Intent to join the Lady Eagles next season.

"I'm excited about being able to sign both of these young ladies in my first recruiting class," Moore said. "I know they will be a great addition not only to our team, but the college as well. They have both been successful on the golf course and in the classroom. I think both Chelsea and Jessica have the potential to contribute right away as freshmen and I can't wait to get them on campus to see what they will be able to accomplish in their careers here at Carson-Newman."

Passmore, who was a standout at Farragut High School in Knoxville, Tenn., helped lead her team to a district championship in 2010 as she finished second in the tournament. Passmore went on to claim fourth place at the region tournament and advanced to the TSSAA Class 3A state tournament, where she finished in a tie for 14th. She was named second team All-PrepXtra by the Knoxville News Sentinel. Passmore also had plenty of success during the summer in 2010, winning three TGA titles.

Kubalak was a two-sport standout at Centennial High School in Franklin, Tenn., as she excelled in both golf and volleyball. Kubalak finished third in the region tournament this season and advanced to play in the TSSAA Class 3A state tournament, where she tied for 16th place. She was named Most Athletic in both 2009 and 2010 and volleyball MVP in 2009. She also helped lead Centennial to a district and region title in volleyball in 2008.

Passmore and Kubalak will join a Lady Eagle program that had another successful run in 2010-11. C-N won its second South Atlantic Conference championship in three seasons and advanced to the NCAA Division II South Regional Tournament for a second straight season, claiming fourth place.
