The Eagles remain in 11th place at Flaglar Fall Slam, Baiunco stays tied for 6th

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.- Carson-Newman shot a 317 for round two, which gave the team a combined score 641 and kept the Eagles in 11th place for the Flagler Fall Slam, Tuesday at the Marsh Creek Country Club.

The Eagles improved their game overall as a team and finished round two 10 strokes behind first place team Barry University, 11 strokes behind two place team Flagler, and 5 strokes behind third place rival, Tusculum College. 

 Head Coach Amanda Moore was pleased with her team and their positive improvement in round two. 

 "Overall we played better in the second round and showed more effort as a team," Moore said.

Sophmore Danielle Baiunco (Melbourne, Fla.) shot a 76 (+4) for round two, which put her where she finished day one - tied for 6th place.  Baiunco ended up seven strokes behind tournament champion Jenna Birch from Armstrong University.

"Danielle had a really good tournament and I extremely proud that she kept playing her game throughout this tournament," Moore said.

Freshman Meridith Hawkins (Powell, Tenn.) finished tied for 35th after shooting 6-over par (78) in round two.  Hawkins improved by five strokes from day one to day two to finish the tournament at 17-over (161).

Junior Mary Tunnell (Cordova, Tenn.) shot 82 (+10) tying her for 53rd.  Sophomore Chelsea Passmore (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished in 59th ending the day with a score of 85.

Freshman Kelli Pemberton (Knoxville, Tenn.) improved her day from round one 94 (+22), finishing the tournament with a score of 80 (+8) putting her tied for 71st. Lauren Hodge (Jefferson City, Tenn.) also had a better day in day two.  The junior finished with an 81 tying her for 82nd.

"We can look at our fall tournaments to evaluate and help prepare us to move further in the spring semester," Moore said. 

The Flagler Fall Slam concluded the Eagles' fall schedule.  Carson-Newman takes to the links again in the spring at the Lady Cougar Collegiate Classic on February 24 in Columbus, Ga.
