Eagles trek west for nonconference match against Trojans

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman (2-4) women's soccer team hits the road early tomorrow morning for Nashville to take on Trevecca Nazarene (2-3).

The Lady Eagles endured a devastating 2-1 loss last Saturday to nationally ranked SAC opponent Catawba. C-N headed into halftime leading 1-0 with sophomore Nora Logan (Charlotte, N.C.) claiming the lone goal off a pass from Chelsea Jordan (Knoxville, Tenn.).

The Indians tied the match up in the 81st minute, and then stole the lead in the 82nd.

Sophomore keeper Katy Hill (Farragut, Tenn.) totaled nine saves.

Trevecca fell 4-1 at Ursuline College this past Saturday. Ursuline took the lead after 12 minutes of action. Three minutes later, Trevecca's Anna Hoffman put the scoreboard at ones.

Ursuline recovered its lead before halftime and put up two more points in the second half.

Trevecca established a 3-2 result in last season's match in Eagle country. TNU had a 3-0 lead by halftime with then seniors Becky Bartos scoring two and Aubrey Black contributing a goal and an assist.

C-N then captain and now graduate Sam Thomsit (England) scored a penalty kick to put the Eagles on the scoreboard. With seven minutes remaining, Danna Stringle (Canada), since graduated, provided C-N's second point off a pass from this year's captain Sidnee Edwards (Knoxville, Tenn.).

The rematch kicks off tomorrow at 4 p.m. and can be followed live at http://www.tnutrojans.com/f/Audio-Video.php.
