Eagles endure overtime loss at TNU

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Trevecca Nazarene (3-3) stole a 2-1 overtime win over the Carson-Newman (2-5) women's soccer team earlier today.

"We are," Carson-Newman head soccer coach Richard Moodie, "devastated with the result."

The first half remained scoreless until the 42nd minute when TNU's Brooke Gann put up an unassisted goal.

The Eagles trailed until the 71st minute when junior Mikayla Gregg (Newport, Tenn.) tied it up at ones with her first goal of the season.

Three minutes into overtime, Diana Corzine scored the golden goal to win the game for the Trojans.

"I did not think," Coach Moodie said, "that we deserved to lose at all."

Both teams landed five shots on goal. Senior Maleya Garrison (Hendersonville, Tenn.), freshman Hannah Shoutko (Knoxville, Tenn.), Nikki McWilliams (Northern Ireland) and senior captain Sidnee Edwards (Knoxville, Tenn.) each released one shot and placed it on target.

"It's very disappointing to have had the results that we have," Coach Moodie said, "with the team that we have."

Gann released two shots, both of which were on net while Corzine landed one of her two shots on frame.

"We need to bounce back," Coach Moodie said, "on Saturday."

The Eagles head to Brevard Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff. The match can be followed live at http://bctornados.com/page.asp?articleID=93.
