Women's soccer undergoes first-time defeat by BC

BREVARD, N.C. – The Carson-Newman (2-6, 0-3 SAC) women's soccer team remains winless in the conference after the program's first ever loss to Brevard (3-5, 1-3 SAC). The Tornados fought C-N to a 1-0 final.

"Right now," Carson-Newman head soccer coach Richard Moodie said, "we are going through a rough patch."

The match was scoreless until the 77th minute when Megan Jenkins beat two Eagle defenders in the box and placed a shot far post for her first goal of the season.

The Eagles outshot Brevard 15 to 10 and six to five in shots on goal. Senior Maleya Garrison (Hendersonville, Tenn.) and sophomore Chelsea Jordan (Knoxville, Tenn.) each released three shots and landed one on target.

Jenkins put up two shots, both of which were on target.

Sophomore keeper Katy Hill (Farragut, Tenn.) tallied four saves.

C-N's back four did not give up any corner kicks to Brevard; the C-N offense earned four.

"We will use this next week wisely," Coach Moodie said, "before we play next Saturday."

The Lady Eagles have a week off before continuing conference play at Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday Oct. 4 at 4:30 p.m.
