Graves adds grad transfer Frost for 2024

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- Carson-Newman head softball coach Michael Graves has added 2021 South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Year Emma Frost to the Eagles' 2024 roster. 

Frost utilizes her CoVID year to conclude her collegiate softball career with Carson-Newman.  Frost was a two-time all-region selection, two-time all-conference selection and the 2022 SAC Softball Championship MVP for archrival Lincoln Memorial. She has one year of eligibility remaining. 

"I am beyond thrilled to add Emma to our pitching staff with the capabilities and experience that she possesses," Carson-Newman head softball coach Michael Graves said. "She has won a lot of big games in her career, and we are looking forward to putting our offense behind her. I'm glad that we can bring her to Mossy Creek." 

In her four-year career, Frost has amassed 69 wins against 26 losses in 110 appearances and 86 starts.  She has made it a complete game 00 times with 16 career shutouts, six career saves and a 2.63 ERA.  She has 574 career strikeouts in 574.1 career innings pitched against just 514 career hits allowed.  She has walked just 123 batters lifetime. 

Frost will enter this season second among active Division II players in career victories, and seventh in career strikeouts.

The daughter of Erin and Dusty Frost, she played her high school ball at Morristown East.  From 2017-19, Frost was named the IMAC Pitcher of the Year, Lakeway Area Player of the Year, and a Conference First-Team honoree for three straight years. She was also the Knox News Player of the Year nominee and 2019 IMAC Tournament MVP after leaving her mark as a record-setting strikeout leader and home run slugger.

2023 (Senior): 37 appearances on the season with a total 177.2 IP...Recorded 3.51 ERA on the year...152 strikeouts on the season and giving up only 39 walks...Four 10+ strikeout games including 12 against both Mars Hill (3/15/23) and Kentucky State (3/23/23).

2022 (Junior): Posted 24-9 record in 35 appearances, including 31 starts...2.26 ERA on the season in 204.0 innings pitched...Recorded 235 strikeouts on the season and earned one save on the year...Hitting: Recorded one hit in six at-bats on the season.

2021 (Sophomore): 20-4 record on the year in 30 appearances, including 22 starts...Six shutouts on the season and four saves...2.15 ERA on year with 167 strikeouts and 159.1 innings pitched.

2020 (Freshman): Made five starts in the circle in seven appearances across her debut season...Recorded a team-best ERA of 1.73 as a freshman, while also picking up an individual record of 5-1, the second-best on the roster...In 32.1 innings of action, allowed 27 hits and 11 runs, both the fewest numbers of the Lady Railsplitter pitchers...Struck out 20 batters, good for second on the team, while allowing an opponents' batting average of just .223, the lowest figure on the squad...Held then-# 9 North Georgia scoreless in seven innings while racking up five strikeouts (3/1/20).
