Charger Chillout moved up, Eagles depart for Alabama day early

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Due to the threat of weather in Albertville, Ala., Carson-Newman's visit to Alabama for the Charger Chillout will begin a day early.

The Eagles opponents have been shuffled as well.  Carson-Newman was originally scheduled to play six games from Friday to Sunday. The Eagles are still set to play six contests, but Montevallo is off the schedule and replaced by Christian Brothers.

C-N starts the weekend Thursday at 4 and 6:30 p.m. against nationally-ranked foes Alabama Huntsville and Mississippi College.  Friday pits the Eagles against Christian Brothers at 2:00 p.m. and Young Harris at 4:30.  C-N will wrap up the weekend, weather willing, Saturday against Georgia Southwestern and Shorter.  Times for Saturday's games are not firm at press time.

C-N won its first game of the season against Eckerd before dropping three straight against the Tritons and Florida Southern.

The Eagles went 4-1 at last year's Charger Chillout. The Eagles collected wins over Mississippi College, Maryville, Christian Brothers and Shorter. C-N and Syerra Rogers no-hit the Hawks last season. Indianapolis handed the Eagles an 11-3 loss.

Carson-Newman faced UAH last year at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. The Chargers no-hit the Eagles.
