Lady Eagles dispatch Lenoir-Rhyne, 7-2

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles won five singles matches en route to a 7-2 South Atlantic Conference win, 7-2, over visiting Lenoir-Rhyne University on Sunday afternoon at the C-N Tennis Complex.

The Lady Eagles started off by taking two of the three doubles matches. 

Doubles winners were the No. 2 team of Stefy Stand (Equador) and Devon Jennings (Summertown, Tenn.), 8-0, and the No. 3 duo of Megan Wilson (Maryville, Tenn.) and Stephanie Goode (Maryville, Tenn.), 8-4.

The Lady Eagles then proceeded to win 5-of-6 singles matches to secure the victory.

Stand quickly won over Ivey Trent, 6-3, 6-3 to continue the momentum. 

Katie Brown (Douglasville, Ga.) clinched the team victory for the Lady Eagles with a 6-2,6-2 win over Cathryn Jarrett of Lenoir Rhyne. 

Other singles winners were Taryn Cappadona (Kennesaw, Ga.), Stand, Goode, and Wilson.
 
The Eagles and Lady Eagles return to action on Monday April 11, 2011 against Newberry.  Match start time is 10:00 a.m.
