JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman (0-1) women's soccer team heads into its second match of the season tomorrow at Saint Leo.

The Eagles dropped their season opener 5-0 at Tampa Thursday evening. Junior midfielder Mikayla Gregg (Newport, Tenn.) released the team's lone shot and landed it on goal.

"We see the importance," Carson-Newman head soccer coach Richard Moodie said, "as opposed to an individual."

Saint Leo defeated Spring Hill 5-0 yesterday with Arielle Kabangu opening the scoring in the third minute of action. The Lions scored four of their five goals in the first half; the fifth and final point came 13 minutes into the second.

Last season, Saint Leo lost 5-2 at Tampa. The Spartans scored five goals over 69 minutes of play before freshman Fabienne Schwenk put up two points for the Lions.

"We are looking to establish a new culture for the girls' program," Coach Moodie said, "and get them back to the success."

The match kicks off tomorrow at 5 p.m.
