Women's soccer continues conference play at L-R

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Eagles (2-6, 0-3 SAC) look for their first conference victory tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. at Lenoir-Rhyne (5-3-1, 3-1 SAC).

C-N recorded a loss after last Saturday's match against Brevard for the first time in program history. The Eagles dropped the match 1-0 at Brevard.

On Sept. 13, the Bears swept the Tornados 5-0 at home. Jessica Toole put up the first and fifth goals in the second and 50th minutes of action respectively. Emmi Dunn supplied a penalty kick, Garcelle Alequine got a goal and an assist, and Emily Atkinson scored the Bears' third goal in the 17th minute.

The Bears defeated Pfeiffer 3-2 last Wednesday with a 90th minute goal by Dylan Bedell. Alequine put in her ninth goal of the season in the 54th minute.

L-R took its only conference loss to Lincoln Memorial with a 1-0 final Sept. 27.

A week before LMU, the Bears took Wingate into double OT and came out with a 2-1 victory. The week prior, C-N endured a 1-0 loss to the Bulldogs after the match was called prematurely due to harsh weather conditions.

Last season, the Eagles took a 3-2 loss to L-R. Then sophomore Mikayla Gregg (Newport, Tenn.) and freshman Gabrielle Gianeselli (Knoxville, Tenn.) each put up a point for C-N.

Carson-Newman has not beaten the Bears since 2009 when Lizeth Munguia (Wilmington, N.C.), a fall 2013 graduate, caught L-R's keeper out of position with a deflected corner kick for her first goal of the year.

The Eagles head to L-R tomorrow for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff. Watch or follow live at http://portal.stretchinternet.com/lr/.
