HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Despite taking a one goal lead two minutes into the game, the Carson-Newman (3-13) women's soccer team dropped Wednesday's match 4-3 to Alabama-Huntsville (6-10) in overtime.

Junior Mikayla Gregg (Newport, Tenn.) scored her first of two goals of the night 1:59 into the match. Gregg beat the keeper one on one and rocketed a shot to the left upper-90 of the net.

Isabel Shanteau tied it up 26 minutes later when teammate Jillian Young set her up on a breakaway. A minute later, Khadljah Jannah stole the lead for UAH with her eighth goal of the season.

Jannah struck again in the 34th with a give-and-go with Riley Ridgeway just inside the C-N box.

Freshman defender Jamie DePaul (Rockville, Md.) brought the score back within a goal with an unassisted shot from 20 yards out the sailed over the keeper's head. Gregg tied it up with two minutes remaining in regular time to send it into OT.

Jannah finished a rebound to complete her hat trick thirty seconds into the first overtime period to seal victory for the Chargers.

C-N outshot its opponent 17 to 12 and nine to eight in shots on goal. Gregg and Maleya Garrison (Hendersonville, Tenn.) both released four shots for C-N. Garrison landed three on target; Gregg placed two on frame, both resulting in goals. Her four goals and one assist on the year place her in first on the team in points with nine.
