Carson-Newman student-athletes lend a hand to incoming students

Move-In Day package

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn – Carson-Newman student-athletes took time out of their schedules to help students arriving to campus move into dorms.

Athletes and coaching staffs from the baseball, football, men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball programs helped incoming freshmen and returning Carson-Newman students move into various residential buildings on campus.

"This is what Carson-Newman is about, not just the baseball program, but all different departments, organizations, band, football, soccer. All the sports are involved. That's what Carson-Newman is all about," baseball coach Tom Griffin said.

Student-athletes helped unload cars and carried all the boxes and luggage to each room, allowing the students to have one less thing to worry about during the day.

Baseball and volleyball served the late morning and early afternoon shift, while the other programs filled in throughout the day. Even the coaching staffs pitched a hand as Griffin was seen carrying boxes to the rooms.

Athletes helping with move-in day and serving others in the community is an annual tradition in Jefferson City. Carson-Newman is ranked as the seventh-highest university in the nation in regards to community service participation and hours logged each year.
