JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women's soccer game gets set for the second of a three-game conference home stand, when the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears visit Mossy Creek on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

"We need to be as good as we were Saturday," explained Coach Simon Duffy. "We need that same level of intensity, because they're a very very good team."

The Eagles won their 17th consecutive regular season game at McCown Field after defeating the Newberry Wolves 2-0 just a few days ago.

Carson-Newman continued their dominance on both sides of the field, recording their third shutout in five games en route to a 5-0 start for the third time in program history, and for the first time since 2009. The two goals scored in Saturday's contest pushed the goal differential in 2017 to 18-2.

"Still some things we can work on defensively, but they are really starting to get a feel for one another on that back line," added Duffy. "We got so many players who are willing and able to fill in back there so that's a plus for us as well."

The Eagles look for some payback tomorrow afternoon after they were defeated by the Bears in Hickory, N.C. last season 1-0. Lenoir-Rhyne was picked to finish runner-up to the Eagles in the South Atlantic Conference preseason poll receiving a total of 86 points, and two first-place votes.

The Bears are led by first-team all-league selections Abigael McGarel & Helen Ramsey. McGarel leads the team with three goals this season.

C-N currently leads the SAC in shots, shots on goal, goals, assists, and corner kicks

Kick off on Wednesday is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
