RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Carson-Newman's two seniors continue to rake in awards for their 2017 campaigns. Defender Helen Seed and forward Lauren Wade were selected as All-Americans by the 2017 Division II Conference Commissioners Association on Friday afternoon.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the three Daktronics All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first-team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. A total of 52 student-athletes representing 34 different institutions filled out the three teams and the honorable mention squad.
It's the first time in the history of the Eagles program that two players have been named to both United Soccer Coaches and D2CCA All-America teams in the same year.
Wade garners her second-straight first-team All-America honor for the D2CCA, becoming the first player in C-N program history to collect All-American honors twice in both the D2CCA and USC.
The Coleraine, Northern Ireland product has collected her eighth award honor since the end of the regular season, breaking the previous mark of six in which she set in 2016. No player has received more awards in a single year with the next closest coming from assistant Julianne Herrity who earned five in 2015.
Of her 17 goals on the year, seven of those have come in the fashion of a game-winner which is tied for a single season program record. Her 47 points this season are tied for third in the nation.
Helen Seed claims her second-career All-America honor joining D2CCA's second-team, previously cracking the USC third-team just days ago.
The four-year Carson-Newman defender continues a stellar senior campaign defensively, providing the Eagles with one of the best defenses in the nation shutting out opponents 14 times and holding 12 different teams to six shots or less through 90 minutes.
The Preston, England native also has chipped in offensively coming up with a career-high four goals and adding one assist.
Both seniors will play in their final game in a C-N uniform in the National Championship on Saturday.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
