AUSTIN, Texas – Senior forward Lauren Wade has swept the 2017 All-American awards after being named to the College Sports Information Directors Association Division II Academic All-American Second-Team, as announced today.

Wade adds to her already impressive resume in which she claimed United Soccer Coaches First-Team All-American and D2CCA First-Team All-American over the past eight days. She was also tabbed Academic All-District on Nov. 9.

"It's great to be recognized for your efforts off the field," Wade said. "I enjoy playing more than studying but it's been absolutely great."

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.

Twenty-eight of the 33 members of the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Women's Soccer teams have at least a 3.90 G.P.A., with 14 student-athletes maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA. The 12 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.93.

The Coleraine, Northern Ireland native maintains a 3.83 GPA as she pursues her Masters of Business Administration at Carson-Newman.

It marks the first-career Academic All-America award for the Eagles since 2006 when Stacey Thomas was selected to its first-team with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Thomas collected back-to-back academic awards from 2005-06.

"The coaches have been great in working around our schedules and providing time to study," Wade mentioned. "We have a really good balance both on and off the field.

Wade and Thomas are the only Eagles since the program's inception in 1991 to be named Academic All-Americans.

The forward is just one of two South Atlantic Conference representatives named to the three teams, as Tusculum's 4.0 GPA from defender Carlie Thornber cracked first-team honors.

Like Thomas, Wade led C-N to regular season and tournament titles for the third-consecutive season, which included Southeast Region Title and a trip to the NCAA Championship for the first time in the existence of women's sports at Carson-Newman.

Wade collected her ninth and final award since the end of the regular season, breaking the previous mark of six in which she set in 2016. No player has received more awards in a single year with the next closest coming from assistant Julianne Herrity who earned five in 2015.

Of her 18 goals on the year, seven of those have come in the fashion of a game-winner which is tied for a single season program record. Her 49 points this season are tied for third in the nation.

The two-time All-American finishes her career with an abundance of C-N records. She ranks first all-time in assists per game (.60), shots per game (6.20) and shots on goal per game (3.35). This year's 81 shots on goal also stand as a single-season record.

She is third all-time in assists with 24 and goals with 38. She cracked the century mark with a point total of 100 in just two seasons.

Lauren Wade will now prepare for the National Women's Soccer League draft which will take place in January. The NWSL College Draft takes place each year where teams of the league select players who are in their senior season in college or have exhausted their college eligibility.
