Price selected SAC Player of the Week

SAC release

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Graduate student Hannah Price (Knoxville, Tenn.) has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week as announced by the league Monday morning. The Knoxville native collected a clean 4-0 record to start SAC play as part of CNWT's 7-0 and 6-1 wins over Coker and Limestone last weekend.

"Great way to start the conference season especially with how busy this upcoming week will be for our ladies," head coach Jim Frederick said.

Against the Cobras of Coker, in number one doubles, Price and Natasha Forrest (Jersey, United Kingdom) clinched the doubles point for C-N as they picked up a 6-1 victory. Then, from number four singles, C-N saw Hannah Price continue her winning ways with a 6-1 victory to officially clinch the result on Friday for the Eagles.

Then, on Saturday, Price and Forrest got C-N started on the right track once more as the duo played a clean 6-0 sweep in number one doubles to earn the first win for C-N. From number four singles, C-N saw Price once more add to her win total with a 6-1, 6-4 victory to officially move the score 4-0 for C-N.

So far in the 2022 spring season, Price is a combined 5-3 in singles while playing from both number three and four position. Meanwhile, in number one doubles action for 2022, the Knoxville native is 6-2 alongside Forrest as the pair has won four straight decisions and have not lost since Feb. 17.

This is the first SAC Player of the Week honor for Carson-Newman women's tennis since senior Ana Carla Resende received the honor during the week of Feb. 14 following her efforts against Young Harris and Lees-McRae.

Meanwhile, this is Price's second career SAC POTW honor as she was tabbed with the honor in February 2021.

Carson-Newman women's tennis will take to the courts for three matches in five days this week as they travel to Newberry on Tuesday before hosting the Tenn. Wesleyan Bulldogs on Thursday. Finally, for the first time since 1989, C-N will face DI Western Carolina as the Eagles travel to Cullowhee on Saturday.

Opening serve between C-N and the Wolves is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday from the Oakland Tennis Center. On Thursday, it is a 2:00 p.m. first serve from the Buddy Catlett Tennis Complex. Finally, Saturday will see first serve between the Eagles and Catamounts at 3:00 p.m. from the Catamount Athletic Complex.
