VIDEO: Andre Morrison Interview
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – After setting a new school record in the 60m sprint, Andre Morrison has been named the SAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
On Friday at the 2025 VMI Invitational, Andre Morrison raced out to the top preliminary time and had a semifinal time nobody in orange and blue, or VMI's venue the Corps Physical Training Facility had ever seen before.
Morrison won his semifinal heat with a time of 6.63, breaking the Carson-Newman record of 6.69 set in 2020 by 13-time All-American Devon Moore. The time also broke the facility record at VMI, and set the second-fastest 60m time across the Division II level this season, only beaten by Alaska Anchorage's Joshua Caleb.
While Morrison dismantled the competition in his first two heats, he was scratched prior to Saturday's 60m finals out of precaution with tightness in his calf.
Carson-Newman Track and Field returns to action on February 8 with a split-squad weekend. One team will return to Lexington for the VMI Winter Classic, while the other will travel to Indianapolis for the Fairgrounds Invitational at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Fall Creek Pavilion.
