LYNCHBURG, Va. – Carson-Newman Track and Field returned after a week off at the 2025 Liberty Open.
Day one of the Liberty Open was highlighted by a first-place finish in the men's 5000m with Colton Lee taking home the top spot with a 14:33.86 defeating Concord's Isaac Prather by less than a second.
Sade de Sousa qualified to advance in the women's 60m sprint with a qualifying time of 7.50, second fastest in the field only behind N.C. Central's Melanne Sutton.
Jeremiah Carrol qualified for the men's 60m hurdles finals with a time of 8.46.
Sydney McCarty and Brooke Taylor earned top-ten finishes in the women's long jump with distances of 5.78m and 5.55m, respectively.
Kendall Whitehead earned a podium finish placing third in the women's high jump clearing a height of 1.50m.
Carson-Newman Track and Field competes on day two of the Liberty Open on Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m.
