JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman football will play host to a screening of the film God's Not Dead August 20 at 8:30 p.m. on the Eagle Vision scoreboard at Burke-Tarr Stadium.

The event is part of Carson-Newman's orientation week festivities and is open to all members of the public and is free.

"We're excited about hosting a movie we think will impact a lot of lives for the Lord," head coach Ken Sparks said. "We also want this to be an opportunity for members of the Carson-Newman community, the Jefferson City community, the Jefferson County community and beyond to fellowship with us and be inspired to honor the Lord a little bit more."

God's Not Dead is a 2014 American Christian drama film directed by Harold Cronk, and stars Kevin Sorbo, Shane Harper, David A. R. White and Dean Cain. The film follows a Christian college student whose faith is challenged by a philosophy professor who declares God a pre-scientific fiction.

The first 300 people will have the opportunity to purchase two dollar Chick-Fil-A sandwiches.  The next 200 fans will receive complimentary gift certificates for Chick-Fil-A waffle fries.

Church youth groups are encouraged to attend. Blankets are encouraged for fans sitting on the turf, the bleachers and concession stands will also be open.
