Eagles Finish 15th at Southeastern Collegiate

VALDOSTA, Ga. — The Carson-Newman Eagles finished in 15th place after shooting a 301 on Tuesday in the third round of the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate Golf Tournament at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

C-N wrapped up the tournament with a three-day total of 922.

Eagles sophomore Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) fired a 1-under-par 71 on Tuesday to finish the event in a tie for ninth with a three-day total of 220, giving him three top 10 finishes on the season.

Junior Adam Holt (Liverpool, England) finished in a tie for 37th after carding a 78 to push his tournament total to 228. John Minor Jr. (Dandridge, Tenn.) tied for 75th with a total of 236 (79-78-79). Chase Conn (Mason, Ohio) and Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) wrapped up the tournament with scores of 241 (83-83-75) and 242 (83-82-77), respectively. Conn finished 84th, while Hay tied for 85th place. Junior Dustin Davis (Knoxville, Tenn.) closed out the tournament in 88th place with a three-round total of 244 (80-83-81).

Valdosta State's Chad Smith birdied the first playoff hole to claim individual medalist honors while leading Valdosta State to a nine-stroke victory.

Smith finished the tournament at two-under-par with a 214 to match the score put up by Florida Southern's Matt Stauch and Georgia College's Niclas Johansson. Stauch and Johansson each made par on the playoff hole to give Smith the victory.

The Blazers finished the tournament with a 9-over-par 873, while Florida Southern was second at 882. North Alabama and Georgia College tied for third at 884, while Barry rounded out the top five with an 885.

The Eagles return to action next Monday in the Bobcat Invitational at Cuscowilla Golf Club in Eatonton, Ga.
