EATONTON, Ga. – The Carson-Newman Eagles fired a top-10 final round of 17-over par (305) to finish 17th at the Bobcat Invitational on Tuesday afternoon played at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee.
Sophomore Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) led the Eagles, finishing in a tie for 18th at 5-over. He posted a final round 73 after back-to-back 75s to open the tournament.
Freshman Gavin Hay (Liverpool, England) finished tied for 76th with a 26-over 236 for the tournament.
Junior John Minor (Dandridge, Tenn.) fired a third-round 77 (+5) and closed with a total of 240, to finish tied for 84th.
Junior Chase Conn (Mason, Ohio) posted a 243 for the tournament, tallying a 78 in the final round.
Carson-Newman struggled to recover on the scoreboard from a 319 in the second round against one of the nation’s premiere fields.
Lynn University won the team title with a three-round 881 (+41).
The Eagles return to action Mar. 29-30 at the Bearcat Invitational hosted by Lander University at the Greenwood Country Club in Greenwood, S.C.
