JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Eagles started off strong by taking two of the three doubles matches and then added three singles matches to defeat Bellarmine by a score of 5-4.
The #2 team of Dusty Davis (senior, Morristown, TN)/Derek Holdway (junior, Woodstock, GA) and the #3 team of Austin Mackay (freshman, Oak Ridge, TN)/Eric Mueller (freshman, Collierville, TN) won doubles matches for the Eagles.
The singles matches were split as Carson-Newman's #2 Warren McClure (freshman, Marietta, GA), #3 Derek Holdway, and #6 Garret Duron (freshman, Woodstock, GA) won their respective matches. Duron secured the 5th point to clinch the victory.
The Eagles are now 2-1 overall and take on King College Tuesday March 6 at 1 p.m. in Jefferson City, TN.
