BADIN, N.C. -- The Carson-Newman women's golf team carded a 315 (+27) on Monday to claim third place after day one of the 36-hole Lady Falcon/McNairy Invitational at the Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point.

Senior Sarah Jane Sinard (Jefferson City, Tenn.) led the way for the Lady Eagles as she fired a one-under 71 to finish atop the individual standings. Freshman Melanie Manis (Louisville, Tenn.) turned in a 79 to finish the day in a tie for ninth place.

Catawba is in first place after turning in a 310 (+22), while USC Beaufort is in second after finishing the round with a 313 (+25).

The final round of the Falcon/McNairy Invitational will begin on Tuesday with a 10 a.m. shotgun start at the Old North State Club.
