Lady Eagles Finish Second at 2010 Food Lion SAC Championship

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. — The Carson-Newman women's golf team shot a final-round 323 on Tuesday to claim second place in the 2010 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship at Etowah Valley Country Club.

The Lady Eagles finished the tournament with a three-round score of 941 (+77). Newberry carded a final-round 304 to claim the title with a SAC and conference tournament 54-hole record of 923 (+59).

Wingate (984) finished third, while Lincoln Memorial (988) and Catawba (990) rounded out the top five.

C-N junior Jessica Tarbet (Knoxville, Tenn.) turned in an 80 on Tuesday to finish in third place with a three-round total of 230 (+14), earning her first team All-Tournament honors. Senior Sarah Jane Sinard (Jefferson City, Tenn.) also made the first team All-Tournament after shooting a final round 81 to finish in a tie for fifth with a score of 233.

Lady Eagle sophomore Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) earned second team All-Tournament honors by finishing in a tie for eighth. Oliver shot an 86 on Tuesday to bring her three-round total to 238. Sophomore Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) tied for 13th with a score of 244, while freshman Melanie Manis (Louisville, Tenn.) finish tied for 20th with a 249.

Newberry's Maria Luz Besio fired a 75 on Tuesday to claim medalist honors by tying a SAC Championship record with a 253.
