Lady Eagles Sixth After Second Round of NCAA Super Region 2 Tournament

SALISBURY, N.C. — The Carson-Newman women's golf team is in sixth place after shooting a 317 (+33) on Monday in the second round of the NCAA Division II Super Region 2 Tournament at the Country Club of Salisbury.

The Lady Eagles' second round score gives them a two-day total of 630 (+62).

C-N junior Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) shot a 78 (+7) to remain in contention for medalist honors. Tarbet is seven strokes back of Rollins' Joanna Cole, who leads the tournament with a two-round total of 143 after shooting even-par 71 on Monday.

Top-ranked Nova Southeaster turned in a 302 (+18) on Monday to remain atop the team standings with a two-day total of 606. Florida Southern is in second with a score of 607, followed by Rollins (614), Barry (614) and Belmont Abbey (629). Lynn (637), St. Leo (641) and Newberry (644) round out the field.

C-N freshman Melanie Manis (Louisville, Tenn.) is in a tie for 19th with a score of 157 (79-78). Senior Sarah Jane Sinard (White Pine, Tenn.) shaved 10 strokes off her first round score to card a team-best 75 on Monday and is in a tie for 25th with a score of 160.

Sophomore Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) is tied for 34th with a two-round total of 163 (77-86).

The final round of the tournament will be played on Tuesday at the Country Club of Salisbury. The top three teams along with the top three individuals not with one of those teams will advance to the NCAA Championship.
