Lady Eagles Fall to Queens 3-0 in Season Opener

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles (0-1) fell in their first match of the 2012 season, losing to Queens University of Charlotte (1-0) 3-0 at the Queens Sports Complex on Friday night.

After playing to a scoreless draw in the first period, Queens scored three goals in the second period for the victory.

The first goal came in the 55th minute from Broke Foil, just before Nadia Butt scored two minutes later to give Queens a 2-0 lead.

The final goal was scored in the 72nd minute by Queens' Sarah Hawley off of a corner kick from Mary Stringini.

Carson-Newman goalkeeper Kendra Ivans took the loss as the Lady Eagles were outshot 7-5 in the match.

The Lady Eagles will continue tournament play in Charlotte tomorrow, facing Pheiffer University at 4 p.m.
