Lady Eagles fall to Pfeiffer 2-1 in Overtime

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles (0-2) finished their first weekend of play with a 2-1 loss in overtime against the Pfeiffer Falcons (1-1) on Saturday at the Queens Soccer Complex.

Carson-Newman's Mikayla Gregg scored the first goal of the year for the Lady Eagles with just under thirteen minutes left in the second period to tie the game. Her shot was from 22 yards out, and helped send the match into overtime.

Aaliyah Jackson scored both goals in the match for Pfeiffer, including the game-winning goal in the seventh minute of overtime play on a breakaway from 30 yards out.

The Lady Eagles were outshot by the Falcons 22-10 in the match, with Carson-Newman goalkeeper collecting a match-high 13 saves.

Carson-Newman will next play on Wednesday Sept. 5 against Milligan College in Johnson City, Tenn.
