Stepp, Raybon earn Bojangles Athletes of the Week accolades

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman men's track and field's Tanner Stepp (Jefferson City, Tenn.) and women's swimming's Lexy Raybon (Sarasota, Fla.) have been named Bojangles' Male and Female Athletes of the Week.

In just his second career event in the Carson-Newman orange and blue, Tanner Stepp (Jefferson City, Tenn.) reset his school record jump in the high jump at the Eastern Tennessee Classic at East Tennessee State University.

Stepp jumped a Carson-Newman high 2.13m Saturday afternoon, which placed him second in the event. Only a senior from Kennesaw State University was better than Jefferson City native.

Stepp improved his record from 2.11m that he set last month at the Appalachian Invitational to 2.13m.

Carson-Newman female swimmer Lexy Raybon (Sarasota, Fla.) won two events in the tri-meet against King University and Emory & Henry College Friday night in Kingsport, Tenn., including a school record in the 1000 Free.

Raybon's win in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:56.93 was her third school record in her short career on Mossy Creek. The Floridian also won the 500 Free in 5:16.12.

 She also currently the school's best time in the 200 Fly and has held the record in the 500 Free. She currently possess the season's quickest time in four events: the 100 Free, 200 Fly, 1650 Free and the 800 Free Relay.

Bojangles is a proud corporate sponsor of Carson-Newman athletics.  Eagle fans can get a free large sweet tea from the Jefferson City location the day after Carson-Newman basketball games where the Eagle women score 65 points or the men score 70 points by telling the cashier, "It's Bo Time at Carson-Newman."
