Eagles’ win streak halted by North Georgia

WOODSTOCK, Ga. – Carson-Newman (7-8) fell at North Georgia (7-10) bringing its streak of three consecutive wins to an end with an 8-1 loss.

Brooke Sanderson (Evans, Ga.) clinched the lone win for the Eagles at no. 5 doubles in a third set tiebreaker 5-7, 6-3, 10-5 versus Jordan Poole.

At no. 2 singles, Patricia Guerreiro (Portugal) had victory within reach but dropped the match in a third set tiebreaker to Mathilda Baartvedt 4-6, 6-3, 10-4. Tiffany Delias (Morristown, Tenn.) also performed well in the no. 6 position but lost in a tiebreaker 6-3, 7-6, 10-3 to Natasha Bertolucci.

Haleigh Chastain (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Jen Ott (Knoxville, Tenn.) teamed up at no. 2 doubles falling 8-4 to Cameron Williams and Adalyn Hazelman. At no. 3 doubles, Sanderson and Megan Wilson (Maryville, Tenn.) experienced similar heartbreak after losing 8-4 to the team of Nela Handac and Audrey Marlette.

Carson-Newman picks back up with conference play at Tusculum on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
