JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman held Anderson to a season-low attack percentage while the Eagles hit .276 sweeping the Trojans, 25-17, 25-13 and 25-19, Saturday at Holt Fieldhouse in South Atlantic Conference play.

"It was our rhythm and composure," Carson-Newman coach Ashley Tiernan said. "Yesterday we started getting our composure on the court and started figuring things out. Today we were able to get our rhythm and composure."

The Trojans had not hit below .100 all season but were held to a .063 attack clip making 20 errors with 28 kills. Carson-Newman (14-2, 7-1) snapped a three-match home winning streak to Anderson (11-4, 5-3) winning on its home floor for the first time since Oct. 12, 2018.

Abbey Hildenbrand (Parker, Colo.) crossed over the 3,000-assist plateau in the match dishing out 23 assists adding five digs and three blocks. Carlee Allbaugh (Tallahassee, Fla.) recorded her sixth double-double of the year with 16 assists and 11 digs.

"I think our serve receive was on point," Allbaugh said. "Anytime we have good passes, we have full options, a full spread and it gives our hitters one-on-ones. It gives them the opportunity to score."

Julia Wheeler (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) racked up an 11th double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs. Emmagrace Cobb (Greensboro, N.C.) hit .615 with nine kills and Molly Langford (Olathe, Kan.) posted a .438 clip with seven smashes.

Blake Cherry (Cookeville, Tenn.) led all players with 19 digs and Hayden Barton (Hixson, Tenn.) chipped in 14.

Carson-Newman came out of the gates firing with six kills to win eight of the first nine. While Anderson decreased the deficit to three at 16-13, C-N won four straight and seven of the next eight points to get the bulge to 23-14 before Langford bounced a ball off the ground to put the unit ahead 1-0.

After falling behind in the first few rallies of the second stanza, the Orange and Blue got hot. Tied at six, C-N rattled off a 19-7 close to the set watching Keeran blast a ball to secure the 2-0 match lead in a frame where the club committed just one attack error and hit .387.

Winning six of seven points, the visitors went ahead 10-8 but a 12-5 surge flipped the script allowing the Eagles to get an advantage that proved the differential watching an attack error seal the sweep.

None of the Trojans crested double figures with Liliana Kinder led the way with eight kills. Madison Roy and Jenna Long each had 11 assists and Linsday McCurley added 14 scoops.

The Eagles go back on the road for a Saturday afternoon match at Catawba to open the month of October. All of the action will air on FloSports with a subscription.
