INDIANAPOLIS – After the NCAA released its first region rankings last week without seeds, Carson-Newman was placed at No. 3 in the Southeast Region in this week's version released by the committee on Wednesday.

The top eight teams make the NCAA Division II Playoffs with an automatic qualifier coming from the South Atlantic Conference, the Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas. The No. 1 team in the region will host the eight teams for three straight days from Nov. 17-20. The winner of the region will advance to the NCAA National Championships from Dec. 1-3 in Royal Brougham Pavilion in Seattle, Wash.

Three of the top four teams in the region reign from the SAC with Wingate sitting in the top slot followed by Augusta at No. 2, both teams that have defeated the Eagles this season.

Carson-Newman's RPI ranks fourth in the region with Anderson, the team ranked fourth, sits at No. 2, but the Orange and Blue swept the Trojans on Sept. 24, the lone meeting between the clubs for the year. Coach Ashley Tiernan's team is 8-2 in the last 10 contests and holds a strength of schedule of .527.

The Eagles have on regular-season match to go challenging UVA Wise on Friday looking to bolster their resume in the conference tournament slated to start next Monday at Holt Fieldhouse. C-N sits at 4-2 against the top 10 in the region this week.

Lander holds down the fifth slots and Flagler sits in sixth, the team the Eagles would face off against in the NCAA Tournament if the tournament started today. Lenoir-Rhyne and Emmanuel round out the top eight teams.

Below the qualifying line, USC Aiken and UNC Pembroke are the final two teams that could receive at-large consideration at this point in the year.

The official NCAA selection show is scheduled to air Monday night, Nov. 13, at 10 p.m. on ncaa.com where the 64 teams from Division II will be announced for the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship.
