Eagles Shut Out at Lees-McRae, 2-0

BANNER ELK, N.C. — The Carson-Newman men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Lees-McRae on Wednesday night at Tate Field.

With the loss, the Eagles fall to 3-2-1 on the season, while Lees-McRae improves to 5-2.

The teams played through a scoreless first half and remained tied midway through the second half until Bobcats midfielder David Palmer finished off a pass from Jamie Bladen in the 70th minute for the decisive goal.

Lees-McRae's James Galvani added an insurance goal in the 84th minute to seal the win. Luke Perry was credited with the assist.

The Bobcats finished the night with a 16-8 advantage in shots, including a 6-2 edge in shots on goal.

C-N goalkeeper Jordan Moore (Hendersonville, Tenn.) faced 15 shots on the night and tallied three saves in the loss.

Lees-McRae's Thomas Rusling collected two saves in producing the shutout.

The Eagles return to conference play on Saturday as they host South Atlantic Conference newcomer Anderson. Match time is set for 6 p.m. at McCown Field.
