Jimenez's Late Goal Lifts Eagles to 1-0 Win at King College

BRISTOL, Tenn. — Senior Gustavo Jimenez (Alpharetta, Ga.) tallied a goal in the 85th minute to lift the Carson-Newman men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at King College on Wednesday.

Jimenez received a pass from Luke Weemes (London, England) at the 84:20 mark and fired the ball into the lower right corner for the match winner.

With the win, the Eagles extend their winning streak to four matches and improve to 7-2-1 overall. C-N also claims the season series with King as it defeated the Tornado, 2-1, in overtime on Sept. 13. King falls to 2-7-1 on the year.

The Eagles held a 21-13 advantage in shots, including an 11-3 edge in shots on goal.

C-N goalkeeper Jordan Moore (Hendersonville, Tenn.) collected three saves in picking up the shutout. King's Richard Masters had 10 saves in the loss.

The Eagles return to the pitch at home on Saturday in a South Atlantic Conference matchup with Catawba. Match time is set for 8 p.m. at McCown Field.
