Robertson's Rundown: August 20, 2015

Throughout the 2015 volleyball season, freshman libero Hannah Robertson (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) will write about her experiences at Carson-Newman. A new installment will be released each Monday afternoon.

Welcome back Carson-Newman volleyball fanatics! Are you ready to keep up with another stellar season? My name is Hannah Robertson, and I am a freshman libero from Chattanooga, Tenn. Now, I know I won't be able to top Kristina's Khronicles, written by our ever so lovely senior libero Tina Hill; but I'm going to do my best to keep you guys up to date this 2015 season with Robertson's Rundown!

This past week, we have FINALLY gotten our whole team together and we could not be happier! The team chemistry we have with one another is incredible. Most of the time, if you shove 18 girls into one room, someone is going to end up ripping someone's hair out, or arguing about who talked to more cute guys that day. Although cute boys are always a fabulous topic of discussion, our team has quickly bonded on a whole other level. I personally feel like I have known these girls for years, and they have already made me feel right at home.

We kicked off this first week of everyone being here with my personal favorite day, the day we got all of our gear. Christmas definitely came early for the CNVB girls this year! Also that evening, we had a fantastic team dinner together put together by the lovely Mullin family. And to no surprise, all the freshman sported their new gear so we could finally feel official!

The next day, we all took a trip down to Kristen Pickett's family river house and had a very eventful day at the river. Note to self for future reference, the CNVB girls do not have the best of luck with the inner tubes. From lost bathing suit bottoms to busted lips and possible mini concussions, we weren't the most graceful of creatures out there. The sun decided to peek through a little that day to give us some much needed tanning time to even out the paleness of playing an indoor sport. Following the river, we all went to have dinner at Olive Garden courtesy of Mr. Harlan. We all enjoyed a fabulous meal accompanied with even more fabulous breadsticks (sorry Coach Ahiers!).

The next day, coach decided to welcome all of our girls to Tennessee with some good ole fashioned gun shootin'. Does it really get more southern? Although we were all slightly terrified, someone was sure to lose a limb, we all rocked it. Yeah, you should all be pretty intimidated at our many skills if you ask me.

Then we all went home and cleaned up and went to a very special team dinner at the Plantation Barn of 1810, hosted by senior Lindsey Wells' adorable little southern family. The barn was decorated absolutely beautifully, from lights and CNVB decorated mason jars, to pictures of our whole team spread throughout the barn. Did I mention how delicious the food was? You can't really have dinner at a barn and not have BBQ am I right? We all ate like pigs that night. Get it? Barbeque, pigs? I know my puns are pretty hilarious.

On top of team bonding, we put in the work for preseason as well. A couple days of open gym and conditioning got us all into the groove of all playing together to get us geared up for our first official practice coming up! We are having a blast being here together and we are all more than ready to lace up and take the court for what we hope to be another rockin' season. With the first day of school yesterday, we are all more than excited to officially dive into the 2015 season as Lady Eagles.

Love always and talk to you all soon,

Hannah Robertson
