Robertson's Rundown: August 31, 2015

Robertson's Rundown: August 31, 2015

Throughout the 2015 volleyball season, freshman libero Hannah Robertson (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) will write about her experiences at Carson-Newman. A new installment will be released each Monday afternoon.

Happy Monday everyone! A new week means a new entry of Robertson's Rundown, and I'm super excited to share another week with ya'll! Maybe I should go ahead and mention what is currently going on as I am writing this blog. Like I previously mentioned in one of my entries, my roommate Natalie is a character, one of a kind to say the least. Earlier today she decided to help herself to some of my salsa I had left in the fridge. She just recently decided to check the date on the salsa and saw that it expired in July and has convinced herself there are worms growing inside of it and that they have now made a new home inside of her body. So, on top of writing this, I am taking breaks to make sure Nat stays sane and to convince her there are no worms swimming around in there. Let's all send prayers for the family of worms she thinks are inside of her and that they have a safe departure soon. I think the sleep deprivation from balancing out sleep play and study is officially in full effect and we are all going slightly crazy. But hey no worries, it makes for some always hilarious evenings in good ole Burnette. If you're ever up late studying, you can always count on some top notch concerts in the hall performed by Cecily herself. She just belts it out at any hour so don't worry there is a time for everyone to stop by and enjoy.

Okay, now to some actual volleyball stories! This week, we had some great play on Thursday night and Saturday morning. On Friday night, we traveled down to Cleveland to stay at the Pickett house and my house together! Mrs. Pickett went all out for dinner, and we got Olive Garden and the endless amount of breadsticks! I'm sure we looked like pigs at the trough! That's the CNVB team when we get breadsticks, literally we look like savages. Later that night, I got to take Nat, Allie and a couple of special guests to stay at my house for the night. My mom was literally so excited to have people over. She made breakfast the night before, and woke us all up with cups of coffee. The girls had some pretty good bonding time with my little brother, Jesse. I think they have seen enough Lego Jurassic World videos to last them a lifetime. We were all having a grand time letting Jesse teach us all about Minecraft and dinosaurs when he got a little gassy and a little too comfortable with all the girls and gassed us all into our rooms for the night. Quite surprised he didn't run anyone out of the house honestly.

As for our play this week, I was really impressed with the way we played together. We all played extremely well and no matter who was on the court, the energy and level of play never lowered. Not to mention the stellar job our libero Taylor Lowe did playing right side one game for us. High School All-American right side people!  HAHAHA!  The way that we all get along on and off the court has made being a part of this team totally different than any team I've ever been on and I absolutely adore it. I can honestly say being a part of this team is a blessing to all of us!

This upcoming week, we are getting ready to go to Michigan to play in our first official tournament and visit the hometown of our little yoga master Tina and then to Chicago for some team bonding and to visit the hometown of one of my fellow freshies Maddie! We are all so excited to get to experience these trips together! I hope everyone has a fabulous week and I can't wait to share how our first official tournament goes this weekend!

Lots and lots of love for ya'll,

Hannah Robertson
