Robertson's Rundown: December 7, 2015

Robertson's Rundown: December 7, 2015

Well let me just start this off with telling you all that I am currently writing this rundown from Tampa, Florida. Why, might you ask? Because for the first time in Carson-Newman history the Eagles are ELITE 8 BOUND!

This past week, we had one of the most memorable weeks of our life. After coming back from Thanksgiving and having a few of the best practices we have ever had as a team, we celebrated our hard work and national tourney bid by going to eat at Brazzieros Brazilian Steakhouse in Knox! A Brazilian Steakhouse, in case you've never been, is basically an all you can eat meat heaven. You are given a card with a red side and a green side, and if you want to keep eating you keep the green side up, and flip it to red when you're done. We all ate like cows, pun intended. Maddie and Leenie were the final two standing, and put even coach to shame.

After feasting on the delicious meat, we were treated to delicious desserts too. The next day we loaded up and headed to USC Aiken to lace up for our final tournament together as a team. All season, we have worked so hard. Unlike many other teams, we chose to all come early in the summer and start working earlier than anyone else. We have spent every day since then dedicating ourselves to reach goals we set for one another from the beginning. Even though we have some rocky times during the season and things didn't go as well as we might have wanted, we knew we still had the NCAA tournament.

Like I have mentioned in previous rundowns, the chemistry we have with one another is like nothing I have ever experienced before. The team that came out during the national tournament to play was the team that we had been working so hard to see all year long. Three games, that's all it took for us to make history. Three games we came out with a fire and determination and passion I had never experienced before. The love we had for one another and the drive we had to play for the girl next to us was evident to anyone watching our games. The feeling after winning those games brought all of us to our knees and to tears. There is nothing I can imagine that would ever feel as good as it felt to be apart of this team when we clenched our bid to Tampa to compete in the championships.

Making history has never felt so good and it's even sweeter to make it with the most amazing girls ever beside you. We have so many activities and goals set for Tampa and I cannot wait to see our passion transfer over to our next games. Wish us all luck and we compete for a NATIONAL TITLE!!!! Still feels so crazy to say!!!!

Love always,
Hannah Robertson
